A warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Strathmore, our Edwardian coach house, beautifully restored to offer four star, silver award accommodation which includes a spacious GROUND FLOOR SUITE which has easy access with only one step up into it.

Edwardian Coach House

We provide free WiFi internet connection so you can always keep in touch no matter how far away from home you are. Our award winning breakfasts are freshly prepared to order using local free range produce whenever possible. We are proud to source our fresh produce including sausages and bacon from local farm shops and the butchers G.M. & M. Johns family butchers of Walmer, Deal who supplied The Queen Mother when she was in residence at Walmer Castle.

Outside there is plenty of off road parking and a secluded sun trap courtyard. Breakfast can be served outside, weather permitting. Strathmore is situated in a peaceful, rural location in St. Margaret's Bay just minutes walk from the beautiful beach and within easy walking distance of the village pubs, restaurants and shops.

We are surrounded by superb cliff top walks over National Trust land, all set in a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Grazing on the cliff tops you will find not only Exmoor ponies but also Konik ponies and Dexter cattle. They all help to preserve the delicate balance of life on the chalk grassland and they live a semi-wild existence.

The lovely small seaside towns of Walmer and Deal, both with beautiful Tudor castles are less than five miles away. Deal boasts it's own rarity of a Time Ball Tower as well as a blustery pier with a restaurant at the end. There is a plentiful supply of other restaurants and pubs too with many being along the seafront.

Dover, with its ferry port and cruise terminal is within easy reach and it also offers the High Speed Rail Link to London. The Channel Tunnel at Folkestone is convenient as well, being only 20 minutes away by car.

Canterbury with its wonderful Cathedral and historical city wall is a 25 minute drive away and it is great for shopping too!

Margate is also about 25 minutes drive away and now it can boast its very own Turner Contemporary Art Gallery as well as golden sandy beaches.

There is always an abundance of places to visit and things to do when you come and stay with us at Strathmore.
